The influence of color theory and op art from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’ can be seen in the Winter 17 Collection. Josef Albers’ exploration of color interactions informs some of the chromatic relationships of the Winter 17 Scarves. Albers theorized that colors were governed by an internal and deceptive logic. Albers own paintings of nested rectangles demonstrate some of these relationships. Adaptations of traditional woven designs as well as the influence of the Op art of Victor Vasarely, Bridget Riley and other artists play an important role in the patterns chosen for the Winter 17 Scarves.
